Why you'll love it

Hill Country Tours in Sri Lanka

Swap tropical heat for cool mountain air. Sri Lanka's hill country is a world of emerald tea estates, tumbling waterfalls and colonial-era towns. Ride the famous blue train through the clouds to Ella, stand at the edge of World's End as the mist lifts, and sip Ceylon tea where it's grown. It's the most romantic, photogenic and relaxing part of the island. Once you've seen it, you'll understand why so many travellers call it their favourite.

Best time to go: January to April brings the clearest views. The hills are pleasant all year, and a quick shower only adds to the magic.

Highlights

  • Horton Plains and World's End at dawn
